Barry Horst has spent more than two decades helping students move past academic frustration to achieve genuine conceptual mastery. After earning a degree in Education from Calvin University, his early career followed an unconventional path, ranging from training specialized medical clinicians in rehabilitation therapies to serving as a missionary teacher in Chester, Pennsylvania—where he met his wife, Erin, who now teaches fourth grade at GPA.

In 2008, Mr. Horst established Wired Minds Tutoring in Greer, dedicating fifteen years to supporting Upstate families under his trademarked philosophy of "reigniting a passion for learning." Having sold the business in 2023, Mr. Horst joins the Greer Preparatory Academy faculty this year, bringing his analytical background and deep-seated love for instruction to the study of Algebra 1 and Geometry.
